Hello to All
Hello to Students, Staff, Parents & Community Members.
My name is Tami Hainds. This is 6th year as a school counselor at Avon School District. I have worked with families and students for the last 16 years. I have enjoyed getting to know the students as well as the parents, and I look forward to watching the students grow and mature into young adults and become successful citizens of their communities. However, I know that there are bumps in the road along the way and I hope to be able to help smooth these bumps out. Often people encounter problems that they have trouble solving on their own and I want to help in any way that I can. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. It is my job to be here for you. Once again, I am honored to be part of the Avon team.
About me:
I live in Oquawka, IL and have all my life. I have two children; a son who is 20, and a daughter who is 13. I have also been blessed with a grandson who turned four in October. Last but not least I have a 10 year old Rat Terrier who is very much a part of our family. I graduated from Union High School and attended Western Illinois University where I obtained a degree in Corrections Education. I then went back to Western and obtained my degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration. I worked for YoungHouse Family Services in Burlington, IA for a number of years. While at YoungHouse, I worked as a Youth Care Worker in a Day Treatment Center for youth in trouble with the law. I then moved to the Alternative Middle School where I was in charge of discipline. From there I became a Family Coordinator and worked with students and families in the Burlington School District. This is when I decided to go back to school and obtain my Masters Degree in Counselor Education from Western Illinois University. While doing this I worked for 5 years as a Coordinator for an Even Start Program through the West Central School District. My career change then brought me here to Avon School District.
